The RITC group houses a small data center with several specific goals. While primarily we are home to the services listed below, we are constantly looking for collaborative partners so the larger research needs are not only being attended to but advocated for as well.

Research File Service: By far the most innovative use of the RITC collective effort. By sharing resources RITC has created a large research file service available to RITC departments and expandable on a lab-by-lab basis. This file services not only allows the department to take control of their storage and collaborative space, but provides a financial model for "high data use" labs to expand their private space quickly and cost effectively. Additional information is available at the service web site.

Disaster Recovery: Separate from the research file service; disaster recovery is an automated means to have your workstations backed up in case of failure or other disaster. There are other organizations on campus or locally available for this same purpose. Sometimes we advise users to use other services which we can help in setting up. Given the broad technology base used in the research departments these other providers cannot accommodate us, in which case we provide similar services. Additional information is available at the service web site.

Web Services: We provide web services with an open ended goal; if other available services are not meeting your research needs, we can usually help. Hosting for lab sites, departments, and projects with special needs.

Co-location Service: One of the most understated services we have. Servers do not belong in the lab, but we respect that some researchers do not want their server in an offsite location. We offer space in our secured, temperature controlled, and local data center for your server or centralized service.

Ordering Service: An administrative tool to help departments track and control costs by centralizing lab supply ordering. More information can be found at the ordering service site.

FileMaker Hosting: Providing hosting of your multiuser filemaker database.

Other groups and departments we are currently working with include: Med School Information Services, MIchigan Proteome Consortium, Medical Center Information Technology, and Med School Enabling Technologies.
